In Ulinzi Sports Complex, the match began with intent, as Mara Sugar tested SEAL’s defense early. In the fifth minute, Eric Juma had a golden opportunity to put his side ahead but blasted his effort over the bar despite being well-positioned.
By the half-hour mark, both teams had created chances, but neither could find the breakthrough in what remained a tense and cagey affair. SEAL captain John Kiplangat came close, only to be denied by a solid save from Mara’s custodian.
The first half ended in a goalless stalemate, with neither side able to create any clear-cut opportunities.
The second half mirrored the first, with much of the action confined to the midfield and few genuine attacking threats.
However, in the 54th minute, the deadlock was finally broken. Super-substitute Victor Haki, who had barely spent five minutes on the pitch, made an instant impact.
Connecting with a pinpoint volleyed cross from Joseph Omuoma on the right flank, Haki rose to nod the ball home at the far post, handing SEAL the crucial advantage.
With the lead secured, SEAL dominated the remainder of the match.
Despite several tactical changes by Mara Sugar coach Edward Manoah, his side failed to capitalize on the few chances they created.
As a result, Murang’a SEAL sealed third place in the tournament , a finish they willl take pride in following a turbulent league campaign where they narrowly avoided the drop.
