Nairobi City Stars and FC Talanta were officially relegated from the FKF Premier League on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

The dreams of playing in the 2025-2026 FKF Premier League ended in tears for Nairobi City Stars and FC Talanta stakeholders.

FC Talanta and Nairobi City Stars needed to win their last matches in order to stand a chance of avoiding relegation.

However, despite the players giving their best on the pitch to pick up the maximum points, luck was not on their side.

FC Talanta, who entered their final FKF Premier League fixture sitting above the drop zone, suffered a painful 1-0 defeat to Murang’a Seal.

Murang’a SEAL, who narrowly escaped relegation, scored the goal in the 60th minute via Victor Haki, who received a neat pass from John Kiplangat.

Despite FC Talanta creating several goal scoring chances in the closing stages of the game, they could not penetrate the dedicated Murang’a SEAL backline.

Meanwhile, Nairobi City Stars played to a barren draw with Mathare United in a clash that was staged at the Thika Stadium.

The performances posted by Nairobi City Stars and FC Talanta on Sunday made them finish at position 18 and 17 in that order in the FKF Premier League standings.

On the other hand, clubs such as Murang’a SEAL and Bidco United who were rooted at the bottom of the FKF Premier League log before their final matches, ended their campaign in position and in that order.

Elsewhere, Posta Rangers will have to fight for a spot in next season’s FKF Premier League against Naivas FC in the promotion/relegation play-off.

The Mailmen, who played to a 1-1 draw with Bandari FC at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa County finished the season at position 16 with 35 points.

Finally, in other FKF Premier League matches that were played on Sunday, Gor Mahia FC were held to a 1-1 draw by the reigning champions Kenya Police FC while the Shabana FC versus Ulinzi Stars encounter also ended with the same score line.
