Former Harambee Stars player Bonface Ambani is the newly elected AFC Leopards chairperson after garnering 1,101 votes, brushing aside his competitor Enos Mutokah who secured only 647 votes.
The election took place at the Stadion Hotel Ballroom in Kasarani on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
Ambani will be taking over from outgoing chairman Dan Shikanda, whose two-term tenure ended after six years in office.
The vote tally reflected Ambani’s overwhelming popularity across all polling stations. At the first station, he secured 267 votes to Mutokah’s 169.
The second centre saw Ambani widen his lead with 291 votes compared to Mutokah’s 155.
In the third, the former Mara Sugar FC tactician amassed 271 votes against Mutokah’s 182.
At the fourth and final station, Ambani, recorded 272 votes, while Mutokah received 176.
In total, 1,783 votes were cast, with Ambani emerging as the clear victor.
Meanwhile, Isaac Mulindi was elected the new Secretary General after amassing 656 votes, outpacing Robert Situma (534) and Irene Sitawa (429).
He officially takes over from Caroline Walusaga, who had been acting in the role following the passing of Gilbert Andugu in May.
The Treasurer’s position attracted a three-way contest. Newton Lime triumphed with 676 votes, overcoming competition from Edward Buhasho, who received 599, and Patrick Kanyangi, who tallied 445.
