Gor Mahia jetted off to Egypt on Friday morning for the return leg of their 2026 CAF Champions League fixture against Pyramids FC, scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Cairo.
The travelling contingent comprised 24 players, the technical bench, club officials, a Football Kenya Federation (FKF) representative, and the media team.
Mike Kibwage will lead the named squad as captain following the absence of their first-choice skipper, Silvester Owino, who is injured.

Charles Akonnor has retained some of the core players in the squad as they face a tough test away from home, needing to overturn a heavy 2-0 deficit from the first leg at Nyayo Stadium.
Despite a good showing in the second half of that opening encounter, the Egyptian giants were the stronger side in the first half, with Walid El Karti opening the scoring inside five minutes before Mahmoud Saber doubled the advantage before half-time.
The record champions will now have to score at least two goals in this second leg if they are to keep their progression hopes alive in the second preliminary round.

Akonnor urges Gor Mahia to build on first leg second-half display ahead of Pyramids clash
Speaking during their final training session at home, K’Ogalo head coach Akonnor stated that he was impressed with the team’s performance in the second half of the first leg and hopes the boys can build on that display.
“The preparation has been good. We have told the boys one key area is that this is a good team, and the least you can do is make the least mistakes possible because the small mistakes you make can get punished. But we are encouraged by how we performed in the second half of the first leg. We played well, and we dwelled on that and encouraged the boys that they can do even better.”
He also hopes there will be fewer mistakes in the second leg and highlighted the need to manage the midfield tempo and maintain effective counter-pressing.
“It’s all about their determination, and I hope this time around there will be fewer mistakes. I know we will do well in terms of how we control the midfield and also the counter-pressing. If we do those things, I know we will be good,” he added.
The two sides will meet on Sunday in Cairo, with kick-off set for 8pm East Africa Time.
