With defending Prinsloo champions Strathmore Leos in Pool B, the Prinsloo 7s 2026 will have four Division One pools, each with four teams. Prinsloo 7s 2026 key details
The 17th edition of the Prinsloo 7s is the first leg of the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit. The matches are going to be played at the Nakuru Athletic Club (NAC Grounds) located in Nakuru County, Kenya. The Saturday Division One and Division Two pool matches start at 8:00 AM EAT. How the Prinsloo 7s tournament works
As introduced by the Kenya Rugby Union, the Prinsloo 7s tournament will run under a new structure with divisions one and two. During the pool stages, a win earns three points and a draw earns two. Head-to-head records and point differentials resolve tied standings. Knockout matches ending in a tie use sudden-death extra time.
Division one
Division one will have 16 teams divided into four pools, each having four teams. On the first day, the teams will play three round-robin matches, with the top two teams set to advance to the quarterfinals on the second day. On the other hand, the bottom two teams will move to the Challenge Trophy bracket.
Division two
Division two will follow the same structure as division one with 16 teams. The teams will compete in four groups to earn a spot in the Cup quarter-finals.
The women’s competition
The expanding women’s competition has eight teams divided into two pools. Teams battle through initial group matches to qualify for Sunday’s knockout rounds. The women’s teams are Impala Roans, Kenya Harlequin, Mwamba RFC Ladies, NYS Ladies, Nakuru Ladies, Pioneer Ladies, Northern Suburbs and Kiambaa Ladies.

Since the Prinsloo 7s was inaugurated in 2007, it has traditionally been held at the Nakuru Athletic Club in Nakuru, Kenya.
