The 2026 Prinsloo 7s delivered two days of exhilarating rugby at Nakuru Athletic Club, producing thrilling contests, stunning upsets and unforgettable moments before the final whistle brought the tournament to a close.
While KCB Rugby and Mwamba Ladies lifted the coveted Main Cup trophies, several players stood out with performances that earned them individual honours after consistently delivering when their teams needed them most.
The awards celebrated players who excelled in attack, defence and game management, with KCB Rugby, Kabras RFC and Mwamba Ladies dominating the winners’ list.

Olukusi steps up on the biggest stage
KCB Rugby’s Elvis Olukusi saved one of his finest performances for the tournament decider as he inspired the bankers to a hard-fought 19-12 victory over Kabras RFC to clinch their first Prinsloo 7s title since 2017.
His influential display earned him the Player of the Main Cup Final award after leading from the front in a fiercely contested clash.
Olukusi crossed over for a crucial try, made four powerful carries that repeatedly got KCB over the gain line and completed a tackle in a disciplined defensive effort.
Beyond the statistics, the experienced forward provided composure in the closing stages, marshaling his teammates through the pressure as KCB held off a spirited Kabras comeback to end a nine-year wait for the Prinsloo crown.

Ambale claims double individual honours
Although Kabras RFC fell just short in the final, youngster Rayvon Ambale left Nakuru with plenty to celebrate after emerging as the tournament’s most dangerous attacking weapon.
The electric back scooped both the Top Try Scorer and Top Points Scorer awards following a sensational campaign that kept defenders on the back foot throughout the weekend.
Ambale who was making his comeback after long injury layoff, amassed an impressive 51 points, including seven tries, underlining his ability to punish the smallest defensive lapse.
His blistering acceleration, sharp footwork and eye for space made him one of the standout performers of the tournament as he spearheaded Kabras’ run to the final.
Even in defeat, Ambale’s consistency with ball in hand ensured he finished the competition as the leading attacking threat, reinforcing his growing reputation as one of the most exciting young talents on the domestic sevens circuit.

Mwamba Ladies dominate women’s honours
Fresh from capturing the women’s Main Cup title, Mwamba Ladies also swept the top individual accolades.
Playmaker Irine Opiyo finished as the Top Points Scorer after orchestrating Mwamba’s attack throughout the tournament. Her accurate kicking and ability to convert scoring opportunities into points proved vital as the Nairobi-based side marched to the championship.
Meanwhile, teammate Edith Nariaka was deservedly named Player of the Final after producing a commanding all-round display in the title decider.
Nariaka’s influence on both sides of the ball helped Mwamba control proceedings as they completed another successful outing on the National Sevens Circuit.
Edith scored one try ,hade one line break with 4 carries alongside 2 offloads winning one turn over.
The individual awards reflected the quality of rugby witnessed over the weekend, recognizing players who consistently delivered match-winning moments.
