Charles Okere has officially stepped down as Tusker FC head coach, bringing an end to an eight-year association that has been marked by steady progression, silverware and ultimately a challenging final stretch.

Okere joined the Brewers in 2018 as an assistant coach, working behind the scenes as the club pushed for domestic dominance.

During that period, Tusker lifted two league titles with Okere part of the technical bench that helped steady the ship and maintain consistency at the top. His work and loyalty did not go unnoticed.

He was entrusted with the Youth Team before eventually earning promotion to the senior side, taking over as head coach last season, a role he served until his departure.

His final match in charge came over the weekend but it ended on a sour note as Tusker fell 3-1 to Mathare United at Police Sacco Stadium.

The defeat was the club’s eighth league loss of the campaign and leaves them ninth on the SportPesa League table.

After 20 matches, the Brewers have managed eight wins and four draws, scoring 22 goals and conceding 18 to collect 28 points, a return that has fallen short of expectations for a side accustomed to competing at the summit.

In a heartfelt farewell message, Okere reflected on his journey with the club, making it clear that Tusker meant more to him than just a place of work.

“Every journey has its season and mine with Tusker FC has now come to an end,” he wrote.

“Since arriving in 2018 as an assistant coach, this club has been more than just a workplace; it has been family. Together, we celebrated two league titles, overcame countless challenges and built memories that will remain with me for a lifetime.”

Okere described his rise through the ranks as a period of growth and learning.

“From serving as assistant coach to leading the Youth Team and eventually stepping up to the senior team, it has been a journey of growth, resilience and immense learning,” he noted.

He also extended gratitude to the wider Tusker fraternity, players, technical staff, management and supporters, describing their support and even criticism had shaped him in meaningful ways.

While the results this season may have hastened his exit, Okere leaves having contributed to one of the club’s successful eras and having overseen the development pathway from youth to senior level. As he bows out, he does so with appreciation.

“Tusker FC will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will forever remain a supporter, even from the outside. God bless you all. God bless Tusker FC,” he concluded.
