Kariobangi Sharks vs Shabana // SportPesa League
  • Kariobangi Sharks and Shabana settled for a goalless SportPesa League draw in Round 7 of the season.
  • The match was staged at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday, November 1.
  • Shabana have now extended their winless run to five matches, while the Sharks’ winless streak has stretched to three games.

Shabana FC failed to make the most of their opportunities despite dominating Kariobangi Sharks, as the two sides settled for a goalless SportPesa League draw on Saturday evening at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The stalemate extends a poor run of form for the Kisii-based outfit, who have now gone five matches without a victory.

This winless streak, which includes three consecutive defeats, piles more pressure on coach Peter Okidi and his technical staff.

After seven matches, with two wins, two draws, and three losses, Shabana finds itself in seventh place with eight points.

This is a deeply underwhelming return for a team that began the season with title aspirations, though it may be too early to fully assess their campaign due to ongoing injury troubles.

Meanwhile, a single point for William Muluya’s side offers a glimmer of relief, though far from ideal..

Coming off back-to-back losses, the draw adds to their tally, moving them to five points and 14th place on the log after seven fixtures.

The match was a tight, end-to-end affair that saw its first major chance in the 20th minute when Sharks were denied by a crucial save from Shabana’s Stephen Ochieng.

Shabana dominated the remainder of the proceedings and thought they had snatched a late winner in the 81st minute.

Austine Odongo unleashed a spectacular bicycle kick, but the goal was disallowed for a high boot on a Sharks defender.

Then, in the 90th minute, Shabana crafted one final opportunity.

Ezekiel Omuri delivered an inviting cross from the left wing to Odongo, who deftly laid the ball back for David Ondoyo.

Ondoyo’s powerful shot, however, was met by Sharks’ goalkeeper Sebastian Wekesa, who pulled off a vital save to secure a point for his side and leave Shabana to ponder their profligacy.
