This event will mark Kipchoge’s first time competing on American soil, where he will line up alongside other elite champions.

Now, Kipchoge is set to tackle the only major World Marathon circuit course he has yet to conquer.

However, this race could signal the end of an era, as he suggested in an interview with Olympics.com.

He revealed that retirement is a prospect he has been considering, with the goal of achieving the “Seven Star” award.

“November, and it’s New York…It’s a place that has been on my mind for a long time. It’s time for me to go there and get a Seven Star [award] before embarking on my new journey of running for other things—running for a purpose,” he stated.

The Seven Star Hall of Fame honors runners who have completed all the World Marathon Majors: Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York City.

But the thrill of new adventures doesn’t end there for the Kenyan, who revealed his ambitions to race on new continents in the future.

“I will run in Antarctica!” he declared. “I now want to do that extreme thing that can make someone work hard…”

“I’m really ready to run well. I will be trying to be on the podium; [for me] it’s like any other serious, normal race,” he said. “I will fight to run in a good way on the streets of New York. It’s not about just participating, it’s about competition.”
