SportPesa League Round 6 Team of the Week
Goalkeeper: Brian Opondo – Tusker FC 7.0
Opondo has kept two clean sheets this season in the five matches he has started as first-choice goalkeeper.
On Thursday, he played a pivotal role when they hosted Kariobangi Sharks at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a, securing a 2-1 win.
The victory saw the Brewers climb to sixth place on the log, a notable recovery from their slow start to the season where they had gone four matches without a win.
Ultimately, Opondo played a crucial role in ensuring his team secured that hard-fought win.
Defender – Charles Momanyi – Tusker 7.2
The Brewers’ captain was a rock in the backline against Kariobangi Sharks, helping his team claim three points against a formidable Sharks side.
Defender Michael Kibwage – Gor Mahia – 7.9
Kibwage has proven why Gor Mahia signed him this season. Earning his fourth appearance in the Tisini Team of the Week, Kibwage has been nothing but exceptional at the heart of K’Ogalo’s defense.
The former Tusker FC center-back has started in all of Gor’s five matches so far and has only conceded one goal. Gor recently played Mathare United and won 2-0.
Defender Paul Ochouga- Gor Mahia – 8.4
Ochouga occupied the right-back position in Thursday’s win against the Slum Boys.
He was constantly active, making runs across the pitch while also containing the pressure that Brian Ouru and Elli Asieche applied in their final third.
Precisely through his runs on the right flank, Ochouga delivered a perfect cross to Musa Sharrif, who headed home to give Gor the lead.

Defender Bryton Onyona – Gor Mahia – 8.3
Operating at left-back, Onyona mirrored Ochouga’s impact on the right.
He is one of the most promising rising talents, and his blistering speed and ability to make overlapping runs caused Mathare United players constant problems, while his precise crosses into the midfield cemented his outstanding performance.
Midfield – Enock Morrison – Gor Mahia – 8.0
He was impressive throughout the minutes he played, making incisive runs into the box and creating chances. Although they didn’t find the net, he was exceptionally good, maintaining his consistent form for the club.
Midfield – David Owino – Mara Sugar – 7.4
He scored for Mara Sugar when his side squandered a 2-0 lead, allowing Sofapaka to force a 2-2 draw.
He netted the first goal in that match, and Owino has been a key performer for the Sugar Millers, now having three goals to his name.
Winger – Timothy Ndayala – Mara Sugar – 8.5
He was also on the scoresheet in the draw with Sofapaka. He was instrumental in the match, making the single point his team earned feel like a missed opportunity.
Winger – James Kinyanjui – AFC Leopards 7.9
The former KCB speedster was the hero of the day for Ingwe as they secured their second consecutive win, beating Shabana 2-1 at the Gusii Stadium.
Kinyanjui delivered a menacing corner from the left that the Shabana defense was unable to clear, resulting in an own goal that gave Ingwe their first win over them since Shabana’s promotion.
Attack – Musa Sharrif- Gor Mahia – 9.7
This season, Sharrif has shown significant progress. In the past two matches playing on the left wing, his runs and deliveries have been excellent.
Playing against Mathare, he created chances in the first half and, though he couldn’t finish initially, he found the net in the second half for his first goal of the season, capping off a superb performance.

Attack- Eric Kapaito – Tusker FC – 7.9
It seems his comeback at the Brewers is an attempt to reclaim the golden boot once again.
Kapaito scored his third goal of the season on Thursday, converting from the spot in their win against Kariobangi Sharks, earning him another appearance in the Team of the Week.
Coach of the Week – Charles Akonnor– Gor Mahia
The Ghanaian tactician has been excellent at the helm of Gor Mahia, helping the team secure their fourth consecutive win of the season.
His tactical approach has been exceptional, allowing him to make an early statement.
