- Kabras beat Uganda 7s Select 27-5 to book their slot in the 2026 Driftwood 7s Cup semifinals.
- KCB, Daystar Falcons and Menengai Oilers also booked their spots in the last four.
- This marks the fourth leg of the SportPesa 7s circuit at Mombasa Sports Club.
Kabras Sugar edged out Uganda 7s Select 27-5 to book their spot in the 2026 Driftwood 7s Main Cup semifinals on Sunday morning at Mombasa Sports Club.
The Sugar Millers got back into the Cup contention in this fourth leg of the SportPesa 7s after a poor outing in the third leg last weekend at the Kabeberi 7s, where they finished seventh.
They will now square off against Daystar Falcons in the semis, after the university outfit managed to get past giant killers NYS Spades.
Joining them in the final four are KCB Rugby, who narrowly escaped Nondies with a tight 17-14 win, and the defending champions will face another tough test against Menengai Oilers, who got the better of Mwamba RFC.

Driftwood 7s Main Cup Quarterfinal Match Reports
Kabras vs Uganda 7s Select
Just a second after kick-off, Kabras’ Jackson Siketa grabbed a rebound and burst through the centre of a wide gap in Uganda’s defence for a try.
Ravyon Ambale missed the conversion, and despite the score, Siketa picked up an injury and was substituted just a minute into the game for Jone Kubu.
The Sugar Millers extended their lead just a minute later when Kevin Wekesa offloaded to Ambale on the right wing, with the latter managing to make it 10-0 despite missing his own conversion.
Uganda tried to make the most of their chances but were unfortunate in the first half, with Kabras holding firm.
The Sugar Millers returned for the second half determined to extend their advantage, and Brian Mutua managed to offload to Wekesa on the left, who stretched to get the better of the Uganda defence as they moved to a 15-0 lead.
It did not take long after the restart for Kabras to firmly seal their dominance. Mutua found Ambale, who extended their lead after converting to make it 22-0.
Before long, Ambale’s kick into touch was gathered by Griffin Chao, who grounded the ball to make it 27-0.
Uganda at least grabbed a consolation try on the left wing, where Alan Olango made a good run through for a late score to put five points on the board. Kabras finally went through to the Cup semifinals.
Kabras will now face Daystar Falcons later on Sunday afternoon in the Cup semis after the university side managed to see off the threat of minnows NYS Spades 17-5.
Spades had pulled off a shocking performance on Saturday, topping their group to secure their maiden Main Cup Circuit quarterfinal appearance.
However, they were unable to replicate that performance against Daystar and will now aim to bounce back when they take on Uganda Select later in the day.
KCB vs Nondies
Nondies really had the upper hand from kick-off against the Bankers, but they were unable to make the most of their opportunities.
KCB then worked their way back into the game, with Richel Wangila managing to shrug off some Nondies defenders to give his side a 7-0 lead.
Another good move on the right saw Samwel Asati find Michael Wekesa, who managed to extend their lead after Brian Wahinya missed the conversion.
Nondies eventually reduced the deficit through a Rooney Omondi try, which was successfully converted by Luke Philipson, as KCB went into halftime leading 12-7.
The second half saw Nondies take the lead, with Omondi grabbing his second try after a decisive pick from the ruck. He sliced through the defence and went between the posts, with Philipson converting as they took a two-point lead.
That advantage was short-lived, however, as Vincent Onyala managed to put KCB back in front.
His score ultimately proved to be the winner for the Bankers, who are through to the semifinals as they aim to defend their crown.
They will now have to get past Menengai Oilers later in the day after Oilers thumped Mwamba RFC 31-5.
