KCB Women’s volleyball team has unveiled a star-studded 14-player squad for the 2026 Africa Women’s Club Championship, which is set to unfold from April 11-24, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt.
The roster has been bolstered by the return of Kenyan international Esther Mutinda, who will fortify the attacking unit, while middle blocker Mildred Cherop rejoins the lineup after wrapping up a one-year stint in the United Arab Emirates.
On top of that, Josphine Kataa has also made a comeback, and her arrival will massively boost the defensive depth.
Meanwhile, the side will feel the absence of their captain Edith Wisa, who is unavailable due to personal issues, so Mercy Moim will be taking up the captaincy.
The other players included are Deborah Jesang, Belinda Barasa, Pauline Chemtai, Sharon Serem, Lincy Jeruto, Josephine Wafula, Maylne Terry, Fridah Boke, Juliana Namutira, and Sharleen Maywa.

Head coach Japhet Munala will lead the charge, assisted by coach David Kinga, Paul Bitok as technical director, and Marvin Tuikong as team manager.
Simon Kibe, Esau Otieno, and Eunice Mayo will serve as team doctor, strength and conditioning coach, and trainer, respectively.
Head coach Japheth Munala expressed satisfaction with the squad’s progress so far, highlighting the dedication shown by the players during camp at the Sports View Hotel, where they have been undergoing rigorous and well-structured training sessions at the Moi International Sports Centre Indoor Arena.
“We’ve had a really good training camp, and the players are responding well to the programme,” said Munala. “The focus is on sharpening our systems and making sure we’re fully locked in physically and mentally for the challenge ahead.”

The tournament is set to draw some of the top sides on the continent, with 24 teams from 14 African nations converging in Cairo.
Top clubs like defending champions Zamalek SC, Al Ahly SC, and Alexandria SC from Egypt have all been confirmed for the competition.
Kenya will be represented by KCB, Kenya Pipeline, and DCI, highlighting the nation’s dominance in African women’s volleyball.

For KCB, everything is at stake as they look to improve on their fifth-place finish from last year’s edition, where they fell just short of their targets. This time around, they’ll be aiming for nothing less than a better outcome.
“We know the competition will be tough because the best clubs on the continent will be there,” Munala explained. “But we believe in the quality within our squad, and we’re confident we can compete strongly.”
Headed to Cairo, KCB’s ambitions are backed by a rich history in the competition, having lifted the African title in 2006 and again in 2022 – a legacy Munala is keen to build on rather than lean back on.
The squad is set to jet out of the country on Saturday morning, en route to Cairo, aiming to fly Kenya’s flag high.
