Kenya Pipeline came from a set down to defeat the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 15-11), reclaiming the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League play-offs title at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in Nairobi on Saturday June 7, 2025.
Pipeline entered the match in high spirits, having swept Game One on Friday in straight sets (3-0).
DCI, chasing their maiden title, came into the second encounter with renewed energy after struggling in the opener.
They claimed the first set with determination, but Pipeline responded with equal intensity to level the match.

The law enforcers captured the third set, but Pipeline dug deep to take both the fourth and decisive fifth sets, completing a 2-0 series triumph to defend the championship they last won in 2022.
Both Kenya Pipeline and DCI will now represent the country at next year’s African Clubs Championship.
Speaking after the match, Malkia Strikers and Pipeline head coach Geoffrey Omondi acknowledged the fierce competition posed by DCI.
It was a very tough game, just as I had anticipated. DCI are an unpredictable side. Even when they took two sets, I reminded my girls of our mantra: ‘Yes, we can.’ We fought relentlessly and managed to win the fourth and the final set. I’m extremely proud of this team,” said Omondi.
DCI head coach Patrick Sang expressed pride in his team’s historic achievement, despite falling short in the final.
This was our first appearance at this level, and I’m proud of the players for their effort today. Unlike Friday, when we handed the match away, today they fought with heart. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side. Pipeline have more experienced players and knew how to handle the pressure,” Sang remarked.
