Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Toto Shimanyula has expressed strong confidence that the Kakamega-based outfit has what it takes to clinch both the SportPesa League title and the FKF Cup this season, insisting the club is firmly on the right trajectory.
The bold declaration comes after Homeboyz secured an improved sponsorship package that has significantly boosted the club’s financial muscle.
Under the renewed agreement, the club received an additional KSh 5 million on top of the usual KSh 20 million, with further performance-based bonuses set aside should the team win either the league title or the FKF Cup, a competition they last lifted in 2023.

Toto Shimanyula confident club will lift domestic double
Toto Shimanyula has made it clear that the club’s recent renewed sponsorship deal has strengthened belief within the club and heightened expectations for silverware.
“We are in a good position now to win titles and nothing will stop our quest to clinch a double this season,” he said in an interview with flashscore.

The Homeboyz boss underlined that the financial stability provided by the renewed deal is crucial as the club pushes to meet its objectives.
“We want to deliver our first ever SportPesa League title and we are grateful to our sponsors for renewing the deal, which will go a long way in motivating the team as we push to deliver the targets we set before the season kicked off.”
In the SportPesa League, Kakamega Homeboyz currently sit sixth on the 18-team league table with 28 points after 18 matches. They trail leaders Gor Mahia by 12 points, having recorded seven wins, seven draws and four losses. Despite the gap, Shimanyula believes the title race remains wide open.

“We have only played 18 matches and we still have a long journey to conclude the season,” he noted.
“Remember the past two weeks, we were leading the table, but because we drew two matches, Gor Mahia took the advantage to move top.”
He added that consistency will be key in closing the gap, stressing the unpredictable nature of the league.
“The league is always a marathon; you don’t know what will happen in the next two weeks… If we win our next two matches and Gor Mahia and teams above us drop points, we will be back at the top.”

Shimanyula also warned against lapses in concentration, particularly after costly recent draws.
“The draw against Mara was so painful because it is a game we dominated for long spells… those were dropped points. We can’t keep dropping points from winning positions if we want to win the league.”
Homeboyz’ recent run has been mixed, with defeats against Gor Mahia and Bandari, wins over AFC Leopards and Kariobangi Sharks, and draws against Kenya Police and Mara Sugar. In the FKF Cup, however, the side made a strong start, thrashing Amani Youth 5-1 in the Round of 64.
With a demanding run of league fixtures ahead, including clashes against Bidco United, APS Bomet, Ulinzi Stars, Sofapaka and Tusker, Shimanyula remains convinced that the squad’s unity and experience can drive them toward a historic domestic double.
“We have a good squad that has been together for a long time, and we want them to spur us on to the titles.”
