Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Black Stars has officially appointed Kenyan coach David Ouma as its new head coach, marking a significant shift in the club’s technical leadership announced on Monday , January 5.
Ouma, a highly respected figure in East African football, arrives with an impressive resume, most notably for his recent heroics with Coastal Union.
During the 2023/24 season where he guided the Tanga-based Wagosi wa Kaya to a remarkable fourth-place finish, a feat that secured them a coveted spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Prior to taking the top job, Ouma served as the assistant to Miguel Angel Gamondi at Singida Black Stars.
In his new role at the helm, Ouma takes over directly from Gamondi, who has transitioned to the Tanzanian national team, Taifa Stars.
Having worked closely as Gamondi’s right-hand man, Ouma is now tasked with spearheading the club’s ambitions independently.

Singida Black Stars appoints Kenyan coach David Ouma as new head coach
The club finalized the appointment through an official statement released by the Board of Directors in Monday afternoon detailing.
“Singida BS would like to inform the public, fans, and football stakeholders that it has made operational changes within the Technical Bench as follows: Singida BS has employed Othmen Najjar as the Team’s General Manager who will work closely with the new Head Coach, David Ouma, collaborating with Assistant Coaches Mousa Nd’aw and Muhibu Kanu.”
In another step, Singida BS has reassigned Head Coach Miguel Gamondi and appointed him as the club’s Technical Director.
“Furthermore, the club has no objection to Coach Miguel Gamondi being appointed as the permanent Head Coach of the Tanzania National Team should the relevant authorities deem it fit.”

The Kenyan coach is widely celebrated for leading the Kenyan women’s national team, the Harambee Starlets, to their historic first-ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification in 2016.
He had a successful tenure at Sofapaka FC, where he helped the team secure the 2014 GOtv Shield domestic title and later served as the club’s Sporting Director in 2023.
