Nairobi United have wasted no time in strengthening their squad confirming two major signings on Monday, January 5, as the mid-season transfer window officially opened.

Naibois who are currently representing Kenya in the CAF Confederation Cup 25/26, have secured the services of versatile midfielder Roy Okal from Sofapaka FC and winger John Njuguna from Tusker FC.

The move is a clear statement of intent as the club looks to defend its FKF Cup title and climb the SportPesa League standings, where they currently sit in ninth place following a resurgent run of form.

The signings come in the wake of a massive squad overhaul that saw nine players released earlier this month.

The clear-out is led by the departure of the club’s captain and South Sudan international defender, Daniel Bichiok with Isaac Omweri, Chris Opondo, Lonny Amudava, Adams Nyambane, Bernard Ouma, Frank Ouya, Isaac Ouma and Brian Ogutu all released by the 2025 FKF Cup Champions.

To fill the void, the club is reportedly eyeing further reinforcements from the Ugandan Premier League. Reports suggest a trio from NEC FC Mustafa Kizza, Titus Ssematimba, and Charles Waibi are set to join the side.

Nairobi United had previously eliminated NEC FC during the preliminary phase of the CAF Confederation Cup before facing Tunisian club Etoile Sportive Du Sahel.

With the CAF Confederation Cup group stage set to resume on January 25 against Tanzania’s Azam FC, the club will be hoping to wrap up the signings early enough for them to gel with the rest of the squad.

Following a massive 3-1 away win over Shabana FC at the Gusii Stadium on Sunday, the Naibois now turn their attention to a rescheduled league fixture against AFC Leopards this Thursday at the Nyayo National Stadium.
