Kenya Police FC chairman Munga Nyale has expressed unwavering confidence that the club will successfully defend the SportPesa League title they won last season, a triumph that ended the long-standing dominance of Gor Mahia and Tusker FC.
Police FC did not begin the current campaign as strongly as many expected. Their early struggles included elimination from the CAF Champions League preliminary round by Sudanese giants Al Hilal, losing both home and away with a 4-1 aggregate score.
The disappointing run prompted the club to part ways with Burundian head coach Etienne Ndayiragije, opening the door for Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic to take charge.
Since his appointment, Stojanovic has injected new energy and purpose into the squad. His impact is already evident, with Police stringing together back-to-back league victories for the first time this season.
He first recorded a convincing 2-1 win over Tusker FC at SportPesa Arena, followed by a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mathare United last weekend at Police Sacco Stadium.
These results have propelled the Law Enforcers to fourth place on 14 points, just five behind the league leaders Gor Mahia and have revived belief that the defending champions are finding their rhythm again.
Chairman Nyale is fully convinced that the title will remain in South C at the end of the season. In a bold declaration, he backed his team to rise above the early frustrations and finish the campaign at the summit.

“We are going to win the league, there is no question about that. You wait for the season to end and we will see who is going to be on top of the table,” he said exuding confidence.
Nyale did not stop there. Riding on the momentum of their recent victories, he issued a stern warning to clubs that are yet to face Kenya Police FC, stating that the defending champions will not be an easy opponent for anyone in the coming weeks.
“We are a big team, so winning back-to-back matches is a normal thing and we will continue doing that. Those clubs that won against us earlier were lucky, but those coming to face us now should not expect things to be the same.
We are going to win against them as we move forward without any problems,” he added.
With renewed belief, improved performances, and a coach who seems to have steadied the ship, Kenya Police FC now look like a side ready to mount a serious title defense.
Their next fixtures will provide a clearer picture of whether Nyale’s bold statement will become reality but for now, the champions appear to be waking up at exactly the right time.
