The match started at a high tempo, with Bristol Rovers threatening early. Jack Sparkes set up Fabrizio Cavegn, whose low strike narrowly missed the target inside the opening minute.

The visitors continued to dominate the early stages, winning a corner in the third minute that came to nothing as Walsall gradually grew into the game.
Walsall responded with a series of corners in the seventh minute, but the Rovers’ defense, led by Kacper Lopata and Bryant Bilongo, stood firm.

Bristol’s Bilongo then tested Walsall goalkeeper Myles Roberts with a well-placed shot after connecting with Cavegn’s cross, but the keeper made a smart save to deny him.
In the 27th minute, Bristol Rovers broke the deadlock. Former Walsall forward Ellis Harrison turned provider, delivering a precise cross for Cavegn, who made no mistake with a low finish into the bottom corner to give the visitors the lead. Despite Walsall pushing for an equalizer, the first half ended 1-0 in favor of the visitors.

Their persistence paid off in the 69th minute when Vincent Harper delivered a perfect cross into the box, finding Aaron Pressley, who powered home a header to bring Walsall level.
Buoyed by the equalizer, Walsall continued to press and completed their comeback just nine minutes later. Connor Barrett turned provider this time, setting up Pressley for his second of the game as the home side took a 2-1 lead in the 78th minute.

Despite late pressure from Bristol Rovers, Walsall held firm through ten minutes of added time to claim all three points in front of their home fans.
It was a well-earned victory built on resilience, tactical discipline, and teamwork with Harper’s assist proving crucial in turning the game around.
