Speaking ahead of the fixture, Nairobi United head coach Nicholas Muyoti stated that they are well-prepared, and he hopes the team will leverage the home advantage effectively. Their strategy will be to seek quick scores and then defend.
“Our players followed the instructions well in the first leg, and I’m happy they managed to score and equalize. The squad is ready for the match; they are fit. The only player we will be missing on Saturday is Manzur Okwaro, who is not fit, but the rest are okay.”
“We are expecting a very tough contest because the opponent is very strong physically; they outmuscled my players in the first leg. But we are counting on the home advantage, and I hope the players will step up on Saturday. They know what they are facing, and it will be a matter of us getting an early goal and defending.”
Meanwhile, NEC head coach Hussein Mbalangu stated that they were disappointed by the first-leg outcome but hope to improve their performance in the final third.
“We were disappointed with the result in the first leg, but good enough we didn’t lose the game,” said Mbalangu. “We have to do well in both boxes, and if we are clinical, I have belief we can still do to them what they did to us in Kampala,” he added.
The winner of this match will proceed to the second round, where they will meet the victor of the contest between South Sudan’s Madani and Tunisian side Etoile Sahel.
