- Harambee Starlets goal scorer Jentrix Shikangwa has revealed the main reason behind her exit from Tanzanian outfit Simba Queens.
- She emerged as the club’s top scorer, netting an impressive 24 goals and finishing as the league’s second-highest scorer in the 2024/25 season.
Harambee Starlets forward Jentrix Shikangwa has revealed she decided to part ways with Tanzanian giants Simba Queens in pursuit of a fresh challenge at a higher level.
Shikangwa, who rejoined the club in January 2024 after a six-month spell in Asia, has been a pivotal figure for the Simba Queens in the Tanzania Women’s Premier League.
She emerged as the club’s top scorer, netting an impressive 24 goals and finishing as the league’s second-highest scorer in the 2024/25 season.
With her one-year contract now expired and marking the end of a two-season stint, the 22-year-old has opted to explore new opportunities, citing interest from clubs offering more competitive deals that are nearing finalization.
I made the decision to leave because I was looking at a new challenge. As a player you always want to see yourself compete at higher stages. I have some good concrete offers and I am nearing completing one which will be announced soon. I know it is a step that will take me to a new level,” Shikangwa told Telecomasia.

She further admitted that although she had a successful campaign, she fell short of one of her personal ambitions winning the Golden Boot.
Nevertheless, she expressed gratitude to Simba Queens for the platform and support.
We had some targets at the start of the season, to win the Premier League and I also wanted to win the golden boot. It was second place for both and not as ideal as I would have wished. But, despite that, I am still thankful for what I achieved and I look forward to doing better in the coming season, wherever I will be,” She added.

Shikangwa’s impact on Tanzanian football has been nothing short of exceptional. In the 2022/23 season, she secured the league’s Golden Boot with 17 goals before making a move to China.
Beyond Simba and her Asian adventure, the Harambee Starlets attacker has also turned out for Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk, following a standout tenure with Kenyan powerhouses Vihiga Queens and the national team where she claimed the Golden Boot at the 2019 CECAFA Women’s Championship.
