In the evolving football world, where excellent performance is paramount, three Harambee Starlets forwards have left a mark in the recently concluded 2024-25 season.
Jentrix Shikangwa, Violet Nanjala and Janet Moraa Bundi have dominated top women football leagues in North and Eastern Africa with their impressive displays painting a brighter future for Harambee Starlets.
The trio, who are expected to play an instrumental role in Harambee Starlets final 2026 Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualification round against the Gambia later this year, have ended their clubs seasons with more than 20 goals each.

Harambee Starlets ace Jentrix Shikangwa shines for Simba Queens
Shikangwa ended her 2024-25 Tanzania Women Premier League campaign with 24 goals and provided several assists.
However, her goals were not enough to help Simba Queens clinch the prestigious league title.
Simba Queens, which is also home to several other Harambee Starlets players including Elizabeth Wambui and Vivian Corazone Aquino, finished second with 47 points, losing the title to JKT Queens based on goal difference.

Shikangwa, who was part of the Harambee Starlets team that defeated Tunisia 1-0 on aggregate to qualify for the last round of the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers, finished as the second best scorer in the league.
She was beaten to the golden boot award by Stumia Abdallah of JKT Queens. Abdallah found the net 28 times.

Nanjala, who has had stints with the likes of Vihiga Queens, finished as the top scorer in the Moroccan Women’s Championship Division One.
The Harambee Starlets striker scored 28 goals and provided 14 assists in the 2024-25 season where she played 26 matches.

Nanjala told SportPesa Blog shortly after being crowned the top scorer that she was not entirely happy with her performance in the 20240-25 season.
“My season has not been good because I didn’t start it well. But, I thank God I have managed to be the top scorer of the Moroccan League at the end,” explained Nanjala.

Lastly, Bundi ended her season in the Egyptian Women’s Premier League as the second-top scorer.
The goal machine who plays for the National Bank of Egypt scored 27 goals and also provided a number of assists.

These prowess shown by Shikangwa, Nanjala and Bundi is a clear indication of the growth of women’s football in Kenya.
Football fans in the country will hope and pray that these dangerous attackers will carry their good form to the national team and help Harambee Starlets lift trophies in the near future.
