Harambee Starlets goal machine Jentrix Shikangwa produced a dazzling performance as she scored a hat trick in Simba Queens’ 6-2 thrashing over Gets Program in a Tanzanian Women’s Premier League match played on Wednesday evening.

The talented striker, who has previously had a stint with Vihiga Queens, put the Tanzanian giants ahead just five minutes after kickoff.

Simba Queens’ second goal came two minutes later through Shikangwa’s international teammate Elizabeth Wambui.

After the goal, Gets Program tried to find a goal but they were not creative enough to penetrate their opponent’s defense.

As they were busy looking for a way to break down their Simba Queens’ backline, Shikangwa showed why she is regarded as one of the best finishers in Kenya women’s football when she netted the third goal.

The goal did not sink the morale of Gets Program players, who continued to work hard to find a way back into the game.

Their efforts eventually lead to a result as they managed to pull a goal back to get the scores to 3-2 by the half hour mark.

The second goal greatly improved the morale of Gets Program players, who increased the tempo of their game as they searched for an equalizer.

Despite the two sides getting goal-scoring chances, Simba Queens went to the halftime break with a very slim lead.

The Yusif Basigi-coached sided returned from the dressing room more energized and managed to increase their lead in the 50th minute through Shikangwa.

Simba’s fifth and sixth goals were scored by Asha Mwalala and Asha Djafari in the 84th and 90th minutes respectively.

This was the first hat-trick of the season for the former Wiyeta Girls High School student, which brings her tally so far in the league to six goals in five matches.

Meanwhile, the huge win helped the unbeaten East African powerhouse increase its lead at the top of the league to 15 points.

Besides Shikangwa and Wambui, Simba Queens is also home to several Harambee Starlets players including Vivian Corazone Aquino and Wincate Kaari.
