Tusker
  • Tusker FC has promoted two of their youth players to the senior team ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 FKF Premier League season.
  • The duo are David Polepole and George Odhiambo.
  • Polepole has signed a three-year contract, while Odhiambo has committed to a two-year deal.

Former Kenya Premier League Champions Tusker FC have elevated two outstanding prospects from their youth setup, striker David Polepole and defender George Odhiambo, to the senior squad.

Their promotion comes just a week after the club signed midfielder Vincent Otieno from Nairobi City Stars and extended the contract of captain Charles Momanyi, as part of a broader effort to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Polepole, 22, has been a formidable force in the youth team’s frontline, showcasing exceptional form this season with 15 goals and six assists.

His brilliant form earned him multiple call-ups to the senior side, where he eventually stepped in for the injured Ryan Ogam earlier in the second leg of the 24/25 FKFPL.

During his stint, he featured in five matches, notching two goals and two assists, including a strike against Posta Rangers and another in the FKF Cup clash against Nairobi United.

His momentum was only interrupted by a persistent groin injury, but having fully recovered, he has now committed to a three-year deal with the club.

Reacting to his promotion, Polepole said:

I am delighted to earn this chance because it is a massive honour. At the start of the season, I had challenged myself to fight for the badge and leave a mark and then see where it leaves me and I am delighted it ends with me getting a chance in the senior team.”

Meanwhile, Odhiambo a commanding central defender, has been equally influential.

Over the past three seasons, he has served as a cornerstone of the youth squad, captaining the team for the last two.

This season, he posted impressive numbers for a defender, netting four goals and contributing five assists. He too has been called up to the senior side on three occasions.

Now signed to a two-year deal, Odhiambo reflected:

“I was really motivated last season when I saw my close friend Teddy (Dok) promoted as well as the previous season with Edu (Edwin Simiyu). It showed me that with hard work it is possible and for the last two seasons, I have been working hard even doing extra training to ensure that I improve in my game and help the team.”

Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere, who previously mentored both players in the youth ranks, expressed strong faith in their readiness:

“David and George have shown great potential and a strong work ethic. They’ve earned this opportunity, and we believe they have what it takes to contribute at the top level. This is what our youth development program is all about, preparing young players to take the next step.”

Youth team coach Peter Kariuki also shared his enthusiasm:

“As a coaching team, that is always our vision to see these young players take the next step up. We are very proud that this year we have promoted two players and this shows us that we are doing something positive at the Youth level. This motivates us to try and promote even three or four next season. We are continually committed to providing a good pipeline of players to the senior team.”
