Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi will once again come face to face with his long-term rival Marco Arop at the London Diamond League 2025.
Wanyonyi enters the race that is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 19 as the favorite following his recent display at the Monaco Diamond League.
In Monaco, Wanyonyi showed what he is capable of when he produced a thrilling performance to win the hotly contested showdown in a world lead time of 1:41.44.

He was followed by Josh Hoey and Djamel Sedjati, who hail from Algeria and the United States of America in that order. Hoey crossed the finishing line in a personal best time of 1:42.01 while Sedjati clocked 1:42.20.
On the other hand, Arop (1:42.73) settled for the fifth position behind Australia’s Peter Bol (1:42.55).

Therefore, athletics fans should expect an epic 800m race at the London Diamond League since the majority of the runners who were in the starting lineup in Monaco have been confirmed for the event.
Some of the other entries that the organizers of the event have confirmed include Mohamed Attaoui, Max Burgin and Gabriel Tual.
Andreas Kramer, Bryce Hoppel, Mark English, Donavan Brazier, Ethan Hussey and home boy Patryk Sieradzki will also be in contention.
David Rudisha’s world record under threat as Wanyonyi and other talented runners head to London Diamond League 2025
A good run from Wanyonyi and the other runners may help one of them to break the current world record of 1:40.91 that was set by David Rudisha at the London Olympic Games in 2012.

Among the above entries, Wanyonyi, who has a personal best of 1:41.11, has a higher chance of smashing the incredible world record at London Diamond League 2025.
