Kenya 7s rising sensation Jackson Siketi was crowned Young Player of the Tournament at the recently concluded 2025 Rugby Africa Men’s 7s Cup, held over the weekend (Saturday 21st–Sunday 22nd June) at the Labourdonnais Sports Club in Mauritius.

Siketi featured among the 12-man squad representing Kenya’s second national team, the Kenya Morans, who narrowly missed out on a podium finish.

The Morans fell short in the semi-finals, losing 12–14 to Madagascar, and were edged out 19–21 by Zimbabwe in the third-place playoff, ultimately settling for fourth.

Despite the team’s narrow misses, the Kabras Sugar Rugby playmaker emerged as a standout performer throughout the tournament.

Siketi impressed from day one with his exceptional conversion kicks, consistently adding crucial points for Kenya.

The 18-year-old concluded the tournament with 12 successful conversions, managing to slot in at least one in each of the five matches played.

Notably, he nailed four conversions against Ghana and three against Nigeria, showcasing both precision and composure under pressure.

In addition to his kicking flair, Siketi also contributed offensively, crossing the try line twice – once against Nigeria and again against Madagascar, solidifying his role as a pivotal playmaker for the Morans.

Meanwhile, Madagascar’s Ranaivoarison Mamy Herilala, aged 19, was named Player of the Tournament, thanks to his brilliant all-round display that powered his team to the final.

South Africa A claimed the championship title with an unbeaten run, culminating in a commanding 28–12 victory over Madagascar in the final.

Burkina Faso received the Fair Play Award, commended for their exemplary discipline and sportsmanship.

Uganda’s Malcolm Oketch walked away with the Top Points Scorer accolade, having played a crucial role in his team’s scoring exploits across the competition.
