The other interesting thing about Chebet’s spectacular performance at the 2025 Rabat Diamond League is that she managed to enter her name into record books as the second fastest 3000m runner of all-time.
Her time was a few seconds slower that the current world record of 8:06.11 that was set by China’s Junxia Wang in September 1993.
Chebet, who massively improved her lifetime best, was followed by Italy’s Nadia Battocletti and Irish athlete Sarah Healy.
The brilliant push from Chebet helped Battocletti to set a new Italian national record of 8:26.17 while Healy also clocked a personal best time of 8:27.02.

This was the second win for Chebet in this season’s Diamond League series as she had bagged the 5000m title in Xiamen in April.
