- Agnes Jebet Ngetich has set a new 10km women’s only world record of 29:27 at the Adizero Road to Records event in Germany.
- The mark that Ngetich has set today is more than 30 seconds faster than the previous world record that was set by the late Kenyan Agnes Tirop in 2021.
- Ngetich also holds the women’s mixed world record at the moment.
Kenya’s Agnes Jebet Ngetich has destroyed the 10km women’s only world record at the Adizero Road to Records in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
Ngetich, who performed well in the Kingston Grand Slam Track series, ran an amazing race in the event that was held at Adidas headquarters.

At some point Ngetich even lapped some of the competitors, an clear indication of how fast she was going.
The 24-year-old went on to cross the finishing line in an in impressive time of 29.27 before kneeling down and thank her God.
She was followed by the Ethiopian duo of Fentaye Belayneh and Senayet Getachew, who clocked 30:30 and 30:31 in that order.

The other Kenyan representative in that race Faith Cherono settled for the seventh position after finishing in a time of 31:44.
Ngetich’s time was more than 30 seconds than the previous world record of 30.01 that was set her compatriot the late Agnes Tirop in 2021 at the same event.
Furthermore, Ngetich became the first ever woman in the rich history of athletics to complete a women’s only 10km road race in less than 30 minutes.
The speedy runner is expected to hold both the 10km mixed and women’s only world record once the mark she has set today is ratified by the World Athletics.
Ngetich, who is seeking to represent Kenya in the 2025 World Athletics Championships, set the 10km women’s mixed record of 28:46 in Valencia last year.

Meanwhile, Ethiopian runner Yomif Kejelcha triumph in the 5km men’s race in a time of 12:54.
Kejelcha, who has represented his country numerous times, was followed by Kenya’s Andrew Alamisi (13:03) and Spain’s Thierry Ndikumwenayo (13:08).
Lastly, Ngetich is expected to travel to Miami, United States for the second Grand Slam Track of the year after her world record breaking performance in Germany.
