Chebet set the monstrous world record of 13:54 on December 31, 2024 at the Cursa dels Nassos event in Barcelona Spain.

The epic performance made Chebet, who is currently training in Iten, become the first woman to run a 5km mixed road race in under 14 minutes.
Her time was more than 15 seconds better than the previous world record of 14:13 that was set by Agnes Jebet Ngetich in January 2024 in Valencia.

The ratification of the mark makes Chebet a multiple world record holder since she also holds the 10,000m track world record.
Chebet set the 10000m world record at the 2024 Prefontaine Classic in May when she crossed the finishing line in 28:54.14.
