Two-time Olympic Games champion Eliud Kipchoge has disclosed that he is eagerly awaiting to take part in the 2025 London Marathon.
Kipchoge is one of the star athletes to watch out for in the race that is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 27.

According to the 40-year-old, he is training hard at the moment with the objective of producing an outstanding display in the streets of London.
“It’s only one month until the London Marathon and I can’t wait to be back. A race that holds a very special place in my heart, filled with so many beautiful memories.
Let us celebrate the joy of running and the collective spirit of thousands of runners coming together at the start line. It’s a privilege to share this journey with all of you as we push ourselves to deliver our best performances,” stated Kipchoge.
Eliud Kipchoge London Marathon time
The runner, who hails from Nandi County, heads to the London Marathon with a personal best of 2:01.09 which he set three years ago in the Berlin Marathon.
The above time stood as the world record for a couple of months before it was broken by the late Kelvin Kiptum at the 2023 Bank of America Chicago Marathon edition.

Kiptum, who died alongside his coach Gervais Hakizimana in a road accident in February last year, set the current world record of 2:00.35 in a scintillating fashion.
Meanwhile, although Kipchoge has a lifetime best of 2:01.09, he is yet to run a sub 2:00.00 at the London Marathon. He clocked his fastest time in London of 2:02.37 in 2019, which was the event’s course record on that occasion.
Eliud Kipchoge has four London Marathon victories
Kipchoge boasts of four London Marathon titles. No other man has won the London Marathon more than the Kenyan marathoner.

Kipchoge triumphed in the London Marathon in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019, making him one of the most decorated sports persons in history.
However, Kipchoge’s latest attempt in 2020 did not go as expected as he finished in position eight due to an ear problem.
Eliud Kipchoge to try to win fifth London Marathon title
Kipchoge will travel to England in the coming weeks with the hopes of lifting the London Marathon for the fifth time in his career.
Nevertheless, he will have to be at his best in order to overcome a deep elite field that has the likes of half marathon world record holder Jacob Kiplimo, 2024 London Marathon winner Alexander Mutiso Munyao and the reigning Olympic Games champion Tamirat Tola.

Besides Tola, Munyao and Kiplimo, the 2024 Valencia Marathon winner Sabastian Sawe and Timothy Kiplagat will also be in contention for the highly anticipated showdown.
Other athletes who have been confirmed for the event where the winner will receive a mouth-watering prize money of $55,000 (approximately Ksh 7,108,200 as per the current exchange rate) include Kipchoge’s longtime rival Kenenisa Bekele and Dutch runner Abdi Nageeye.

Similar to the men’s category, the organizers of the London Marathon have also assembled a stellar field in the women’s category.
Some of the women who are expected to battle it out for the crown include the current world record holder Ruth Chepngetich, defending champion Peres Chepchirchir, and Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa.
Finally, Sifan Hassan, who is currently training in Iten, Kenya, will also compete in the 2025 London Marathon.
