Eliud Kipchoge’s running journey

Kipchoge has had an inspiring career that saw him rise from a little-known milk vendor to one of the greatest ever marathoners in history.

The father of three has won more than 10 Abbott world marathon majors titles and lowered the world record more than once.

At the international stage, Kipchoge brought Kenya three gold medals with two of them coming at the Olympics stage.

He won his maiden gold medal in the 2003 World Cross Country Championships where he clocked 22:47 to triumph in the junior category.

A few months later, the runner, who is nicknamed the “Philosopher” overcame a deep field that had the likes of Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele to clinch the 5000m title in the Paris World Championships.

Kipchoge then went on to bag two Olympic Games gold medals for his beloved country in the marathon discipline in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro and 2020 Tokyo editions.
