“I am so excited. This is not only my first time racing the TCS Sydney Marathon, but also my first time running in Oceania. Competing in Australia is a huge opportunity for me. Sydney looks like a stunning city with so many iconic sights. It’s going to be a new and special experience for me.
I’ve been to many places to share my vision of making this world a running world. As I’ve never been to Australia before, I want to help make Australia a running nation,” he was quoted by NN Running Team.
As stated by Kipchoge, he will also take the opportunity to tour the Oceanian country and see its wonders including Kangaroos.

Kipchoge’s first race of the year
Kipchoge is expected to feature in the upcoming 2025 London Marathon on April 27 before starting to prepare for the Sydney showdown.

Kipchoge, who won the Olympic Games time at the 2016 and the delayed 2020 edition, will be seeking to win the coveted title for the fifth time.
Kipchoge, who is the second fastest marathoner in history with a personal best of 2:01.09, has won more than 15 marathons in his career.

He held the world record for a number of years before it was eventually broken at the 2023 Bank of America Chicago Marathon by his compatriot the late Kelvin Kiptum.
Kiptum, who died in February 2024 in a fatal road accident clocked a time of 2:00.35 and was expected to carry Kenya’s flag alongside Kipchoge in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
