Austin Odhiambo, who is among seven Gor Mahia players that have been included in the Harambee Stars’ provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Gambia and Gabon, produced a man of the match performance in that encounter.
He scored a brace to ensure the Sinisa Mihic coached charges head into the next round of the tournament. Gedeon Bendeka, Mark Shaban and Alpha Onyango were also on the score sheet.

Odhiambo feels the old Gor Mahia is back
Speaking after that victory, Odhiambo stated that it is easier playing against tough sides like Bandari FC compared to less established clubs such as Githurai All Stars.
According to him, the approach of the two matches are entirely different since facing less established teams usually makes players relax.
“I can say that it is a more easier game compared to this because when you play against a premier league opponent, you will go into the game psyched up than facing this team because you will approach the game with relaxation.
So to me, that is a very interesting game and easier compared to the one that we have played today,” he explained.

The 25-year-old also expressed confidence in them overcoming Bandari and avenging their 2-0 first leg defeat.
“I feel we are back. I can also feel it from my teammates and even the club because everyone is very motivated,” ended Odhiambo.
The last time the two heavyweights clashed, Gor Mahia played with 10 men for the bigger part of the second half after one of their players was red carded.
Gor Mahia shall go into the game with a good form that has seen them register three victories and two draws in their latest five matches in all competitions. The wins came against Kariobangi Sharks, Githurai All Stars and Mathare United.
Unlike K’Ogalo, Bandari have not shown consistency in their recent games, picking up two victories and a similar number of defeats in the process.
The Ken Odhiambo coached side hammered Al-Azizia 3-1 in their latest game with the win ensuring they got a ticket to the next round of the FKF Cup.
