Enterprise Cup 2025

KCB Rugby and their rivals Kabras Sugar will once again face off on Saturday afternoon at the ASK Grounds in Kakamega for a crucial spot in the Enterprise Cup 2025 finals, just seven days after their Kenya Cup encounter.

Kabras, aiming to secure the title for the fifth consecutive time (having won in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024), hold the advantage after defeating the Bankers 25-17 in their recent Kenya Cup encounter last weekend.

In addition to their recent victory, Kabras will seek to extend their dominance over the Bankers, having previously defeated them in the Enterprise Cup 2024 finals with a 32-20 victory.

On the other hand, the Bankers will be determined to break Kabras’ five-match winning streak against them, as well as their own impressive 39-match unbeaten run.

Oliver Mang’eni’s side secured a spot in the semifinals after an overwhelming 86-7 victory over Catholic Monks in the quarterfinals, while Carlos Katywa’s team triumphed 43-20 over Kenya Harlequin.

Ahead of the crucial match, KCB head coach expressed confidence in his squad, praising their hunger for titles this season.

“In a short period of time, we have made drastic changes and improvements in the squad. Last weekend’s display from the boys was encouraging. Our game plan is working and our tactical approach is proving worthy.

We want to continue playing like this and hopefully, take KCB back to where it belongs, winning titles,” Mang’eni told Citizen digital during a training session at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka.

Team captain Jacob Ojee echoed these sentiments, expressing optimism about the team’s chances of securing titles this season.

“I am happy with the boys who have shown great hunger for titles this year. Together with the technical bench, we are working so hard to win silverware.

The young blood who have joined the team have added a new dimension into the squad and it is my hope that we will clinch titles at the end of the season,” said Ojee.

Meanwhile, the other semifinal clash will take place at the ASK Nakuru Showground where Menengai Oilers will face Nondescripts.

Both teams progressed to the semifinals without contest in the quarterfinals. Oilers received a walkover from Kenya Harlequins while Nondies received a walkover from South Coast Pirates.
