AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani has expressed that being held to a draw by Murang’a SEAL on Saturday was a setback for his team’s performance as they are working to close the gap with the league leaders.
This is after the two teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw during thr the second-leg match played at the Dandora Stadium in Nairobi,
Murang’a SEAL were the first to break the deadlock in the first half, with Joe Waithira scoring in the 33rd minute after a well-executed pass from Nicholas Omondi.
However, Ingwe equalized just six minutes later through Julius Masaba, following a brilliant cross by Victor Otieno.
Aiming to extend their impressive 4-2 win against KCB, Ingwe created several good chances but failed to capitalize on them, as they handed the resilient Murang’a SEAL four points in the two encounters this season.

With their hopes of climbing to third place dashed, Ambani stated that dropping the two points was a blow, especially as they are in the race to catch up with leaders Tusker and Police FC.
“First of all, this draw is a big blow for me because these three points would have helped us close the gap with those ahead of us,” a disappointed Ambani said after the match.
“Anytime you drop points now, it becomes incredibly difficult to reduce the deficit quickly.”
Nevertheless, he emphasized that the race is still on and that the team will continue to fight for their 13th top-flight title.
“Today things did not go our way, but we know that everything can be corrected. We will go back to the drawing board and prepare ourselves for the next challenge,” he added.
“We havent lost hope yet; as you can see, other teams are also dropping points, and as they do, we gain a little chance. That’s the nature of the league—today we lose, and someone else benefits.”
