The Kenya Volleyball Federation has released the list of 17 teams set to participate in the first edition of the 2025 Volleyball Kenya Cup tournament which will kick off on January 7 and culminate in July 2025.

The tournament will feature 10 men’s teams and seven women’s teams competing in a round-robin format during the group stage.

The top four teams from each side will advance to the quarterfinals.

In the knockout stage, only four teams will qualify for the semifinals leading to the finals.

Teams will be ranked based on points (win/loss), set ratio, and point ratio as tiebreakers.

According to the federation, the final group match will be held on March 5 while the quarterfinals are scheduled to conclude by the end of June.

The semifinals and finals will take place in July 2025.

The 17 teams are as follows:

Men’s Teams

  1. Kenya Ports Authority (KPA)
  2. Equity Bank Volleyball Club
  3. Kenya Defence Forces (KDF)
  4. Trailblazers Volleyball Club (TVC)
  5. General Service Unit (GSU)
  6. Kenya Prisons
  7. Kenya Army
  8. Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU)
  9. Administration Police of Kenya (APK)
  10. Chema VC

Women’s Teams

  1. Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
  2. Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB)
  3. Kenya Defence Forces (KDF)
  4. Kenya Pipeline Company VC
  5. Kenya Army
  6. Post Bank
  7. Kenya Prisons

In addition, clubs must adhere to the FIVB Volleyball regulations.

Teams are allowed to have up to 2 foreign players from another country with no restrictions on local professionals, especially if they are originally from the same club. For example, GSU players can participate without limitations.

Following FIVB guidelines, all teams must have a non-playing referee with at least a National Level 1 qualification and must be actively practicing.

Teams are also required to wear proper regulation uniforms in the same color. If two teams have the same color of uniform, the team listed first on the score sheet must change their uniform as per FIVB regulations.
