Kenya Police Bullets, the defending Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League champions saw their long-standing unbeaten streak come to an end on Sunday as Zetech Sparks fought back to record a 4-3 win at Dandora Stadium.

Bullets, who had gone unbeaten throughout last season, entered the 2024/2025 campaign with strong performances, winning two and drawing two before the match where Sparks were seeking to avenge their 6-2 loss last season.

Sparks started the game on the front foot, but Police Bullets quickly showed their attacking intent. Despite missing some early chances, Stella Odour was involved in setting up Nelly Sawe who broke the deadlock with a brilliant free kick.

Zetech Sparks responded strongly in the second half. In the 48th minute, Beverline Adika equalized with a powerful header from a free kick.

Beldine Odemba’s side then took the lead when Vivian Chiteri fumbled the ball, allowing Emily Moranga, who had come on as a substitute, to pass to Rebecca Okwaro who slotted the ball home.

Police looked set to maintain their lead when Moranga found the net in the 63rd minute to make it 3-1.

However, Sparks came alive in the final stages. Violet Akinyi’s screamer within minutes pulled Zetech level.

Then, with just moments remaining, Akinyi completed her hat trick with two goals within 5 minutes, completing a dramatic comeback to give Zetech Sparks a 4-3 victory.

The result leaves Police Bullets in 5th place on the table with 8 points, two behind leaders Kibera Soccer Women who beat Wadadia 3-0 to move to the top.

Other matches saw Kisped Queens fall 1-0 to Bungoma Queens at Moi Stadium in Kisumu, while Bunyore Starlets lost 3-1 to Kisumu All Starlets at Mumboha Grounds.

Bunyore remains the only team yet to earn a point after five matches.
