- The cup final was played on Sunday, October 11, at Nyayo National Stadium.
- The triumph marked Shujaa’s record 15th title, while also securing their fifth consecutive championship defence.
The men’s national sevens team, Shujaa, made history on Sunday, October 11, by successfully defending their Safari 7s title.
They clinched an incredible fifth consecutive championship (2021, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026) after defeating a tenacious Kenya Morans 24–5 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Both host teams enjoyed impressive runs from the group stages, each securing two wins and a draw.
They also dominated the quarter-finals, with Shujaa thrashing Wonder 7s 54–5, while Morans dispatched SportPesa Fast Forward 7s 38–15.
Morans then booked a semi-final clash against former champions Shogun Rugby, whom they convincingly overcame 31–10 after a dominant first half. Shujaa, meanwhile, enjoyed a comfortable outing against French Renegades, cruising to a 36–0 victory.

With both sides carrying unbeaten records into the title decider, the final kicked off at a blistering pace.
However, Shujaa were quickly reduced to six men after Samwel Asati committed a foul on Mike Lukusi, handing Morans a numerical advantage.
Lucky Onyango nearly capitalised on the opportunity to put Morans ahead, but his grounding attempt was unsuccessful, and the try was chalked off.
Both teams put on a spirited display, with Shujaa maintaining their defensive resilience until they restored their full complement of players.
Morans, on the other hand, showed admirable discipline, denying their opponents even the slightest opening to cross the try line as the two sides headed into the break deadlocked at 0–0.
The second half saw Shujaa draw first blood through Rayvon Ambale, who deceived the defence with a dummy pass before slicing through the gap between the posts. His effort, followed by a successful conversion, handed Shujaa a 7–0 advantage.
Moments after the restart, Morans managed to win possession, but Shujaa overpowered them on the ruck.
Victor Mola found himself in the perfect position on the right wing and accelerated brilliantly to extend the lead to 14–0 following another successful conversion.
The second half became a showcase of experience, with the senior Shujaa side demonstrating their class against their younger counterparts. They further widened the gap when Nygel Amaitsa offloaded to Festus Shiasi on the left wing, allowing him to overpower the defence and ground the ball for another try.

Morans struggled to find a response as Shujaa continued to turn the screw. Shiasi delivered another well-timed offload to John Okoth, who made no mistake near the edge to stretch Shujaa’s lead to 24 points.
Kenya Morans finally found a consolation try through Dennis Ndayala, who finished off a promising move after Harrison Mauve made an impressive run down the left wing, beating his markers before releasing the ball to his teammate.
However, time was not on Morans’ side, and a comeback proved elusive as Shujaa completed their title defence in emphatic fashion.

Kenya Morans, meanwhile, will have to wait another year to pursue their second Safari 7s crown, having last lifted the trophy in 2019.
Meanwhile, regular third-place contenders Shogun Rugby endured their worst finish in the past three editions, missing out on the podium after French Renegades edged them 17–15 in the third-place playoff.
