SportPesa League debutants shined as the Sunday action of Round 1 came to a conclusion, with Tusker FC climbing to the top of the league standings following a decisive away victory.

At the Ulinzi Sports Complex, a tight first half gave way to a sudden burst of attacking flair from the Brewers, who struck twice in quick succession to secure all three points.

Alvin Mang’eni broke the deadlock in the 71st minute, before Nigerian forward Victor Mbaoma opened his goal account for Tusker just seven minutes later to seal the 2-0 win.

The defeat extends an awful opening-day record for Ulinzi Stars, who have now lost four of their last five Gameweek 1 fixtures in the SportPesa League, managing just a single victory in that span.

Rounding off Sunday’s action at the Police Sacco Stadium, Nairobi United extended their unbeaten record against KCB in a 2-2 draw.
