Kenya Morans draw Shogun in Safari 7s semifinal rematch as last-four pairings confirmed

Kenya’s 7s sides, Shujaa and Kenya Morans, booked their places in the 2026 Safari 7s Main Cup semifinals after overpowering their opponents in the quarterfinals played on Sunday morning at Nyayo National Stadium.

Kenya Morans delivered a commanding performance in their quarterfinal clash, thrashing a formidable South African side, SportPesa Fast Forward 7s, 38-15 after an impressive first-half display.

The Morans will now look to secure a place in the final and go one better than last year, when they were knocked out in the semifinals by Shogun Rugby in a narrow 14-12 defeat.

Heading into the 2026 edition, the Morans have drawn the same opponents and will face Shogun in the semifinals, with revenge firmly on their minds. Shogun booked their place with a crushing 41-5 victory over Wellington Jaguars.

Shogun, formerly known as Samurai, will also be chasing a fourth consecutive final appearance as they seek to reclaim the title they last won in 2018, having fallen short in the three editions since.

The last time Louis Kisia’s Morans lifted the trophy was in 2019, when they pulled off a major upset against reigning World Rugby champions South Africa, claiming a memorable 19-14 victory.

This time around, the team will be eager to go a step further and crown their impressive campaign with silverware, having already shown plenty of promise on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Kenya Shujaa also put on a dominant display on Sunday, routing Wonder 7s 54-5 to set up a semifinal showdown with French Renegades.

The French side secured their spot after edging last year’s semifinalists Zimbabwe 7s 17-12.

The encounter will mark the first meeting between the two sides, with Kevin Wambua’s men aiming to secure a historic fifth Safari 7s title.
