KCB Rugby are the 2026 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit champions, sealing back-to-back titles after clinching third place in the circuit’s final leg at the Christie 7s staged at the RFUEA Grounds.
Before even meeting their perennial rivals, Kabras RFC, in the third-place playoff on Sunday afternoon, KCB had already clinched the title due to the mathematical permutations over the Sugar Millers.
Coming into this round, the two sides were separated by just six points in the overall championship standings, with KCB leading on 98 points while the Sugar Millers were breathing down their necks on 92.

Thus Kabras needed to reach the final to ensure they could overturn the deficit and win the overall championship by a point, while KCB, had Kabras made the final, needed to finish in third place.
However, the semifinal results favoured KCB most.
Despite being eliminated by Strathmore Leos in the Cup semifinals after a 19–12 defeat, their perennial rivals Kabras Sugar also suffered the same fate, falling 20–10 to Menengai Oilers in the Rai Derby.
And meeting in the third-place playoff, it was the Ruaraka outfit who prevailed in a match that stretched beyond 25 minutes after the sides played to a deadlock in regulation time, before George Ooro struck the winning try for Andrew Amonde’s charges.

On that note, KCB will be crowned champions with 115 points, while Kabras will have to settle for the overall runners-up position with 107 points.
That means KCB have not only defended their championship but have also claimed it for a record sixth time, having previously won it in 2013, 2014, 2019, 2023, 2025 and now 2026.
The achievement puts them ahead of rivals Kenya Harlequins, Mwamba and Impala, who have each won the title four times.
The two sides had gone neck-and-neck throughout the season, with KCB winning three of the five legs of the circuit.
They opened their title defence by winning the Prinsloo 7s, claimed the Kabeberi 7s title in Nairobi and then clinched the Embu 7s to edge the battle three legs to two against Kabras, who won the Dala 7s in Kisumu and Driftwood 7s in Mombasa.
