The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has announced the provisional squads for the Kenya Men’s Sevens team, Shujaa&Morans, and the Kenya Women’s Sevens team, Lionesses, ahead of the start of their upcoming season.
This follows the successful conclusion of the 2026 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit on Sunday, September 13, in Nairobi, with the Christie 7s bringing the curtains down on the six-leg circuit.
KCB Rugby were crowned overall champions with 115 points, retaining the title and claiming a record sixth overall crown after edging out their rivals Kabras Sugar, who finished second with 107 points.

With the dust now settling, the focus shifts to international and national duties for the national teams.
Players who managed to shine across the six-leg circuit: Prinsloo 7s, Dala 7s, Kabeberi 7s, Driftwood 7s, Embu 7s and Christie 7s, have earned their places in the provisional national team squads.
The selected players are set to report to camp for training on Thursday, September 16, 2026, at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi, where they will begin preparations under the respective technical teams.

KCB Rugby, the overall circuit champions, have supplied a sizeable contingent to the men’s squad, with Richel Wangila, one of the standout performers throughout the circuit, among nine Bankers players called up.
Kabras Sugar are the second club with the highest representation, sending seven players, including their three stars Michael Lukusi, Jackson Siketi and Rayvone Ambale, who have all enjoyed standout seasons under Ntabeni Dukisa.
Menengai Oilers, the only club apart from Kabras and KCB to win a circuit leg this season after claiming the Christie 7s, have contributed three players.
They are joined by the three players from two-time 2026 circuit finalists Strathmore Leos.
Daystar Falcons, who also enjoyed an impressive campaign, have three representatives, while Mwamba RFC have also seen three players earn a place in the squad.

Nakuru RFC, Kenya Harlequin, Masinde Muliro University and Kisumu RFC have also had their players make the cut after impressive campaigns, including Harrison Mauve of Kisumu, who consistently stole the spotlight throughout the circuit.
In the women’s category, overall champions Mwamba Ladies have seen several of their players earn selection, alongside runners-up Kenya Harlequin Queens, who have also contributed a strong contingent.
There is also a Junior Lionesses category, comprising high school girls who are expected to join the camp as part of the wider development pathway.
These players will now be integrated into what promises to be a busy 2026/27 season, beginning with the Mauritius Sevens Tournament 2026 before the teams shift gears for the 2026 Safari 7s, scheduled for October 9-11, just a week after the Africa Men’s 7s.
The teams will then fine-tune their preparations for another shot at qualifying for the HSBC SVNS 1 next season, with Kenya set to begin its campaign in Division 2, which the country could host once again.
