Kabras RFC youngster Rayvon Ambale could not hide his delight after making an impressive return from a lengthy injury layoff, with the exciting speedster already turning his focus to helping the Kenya Cup champions mount a serious challenge for the 2026 Prinsloo 7s title.
Ambale had spent close to six months on the sidelines recovering from injury, a frustrating spell that kept him away from competitive action.
However, his return could not have been scripted any better as he played a pivotal role in Kabras RFC’s flawless run through the pool stages of the opening leg of the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit in Nakuru.

The youngster announced his comeback in style during Kabras’ opening Pool clash against Mwamba RFC, dotting down twice as the sugar millers opened their campaign with a convincing 26-12 victory.
He maintained his impressive form in the second outing, crossing over once in Kabras’ emphatic 47-0 rout of Embu RFC.
Ambale was again among the try scorers in the final pool fixture against Kenya Harlequins, touching down as Kabras held their nerve to edge the former national champions 12-10 in a hard-fought contest.
His four tries in three matches underlined just how quickly he has rediscovered his rhythm after months in rehabilitation.
Speaking to Sportpesa Blog after Kabras secured a place in the Main Cup quarter-finals with a perfect record of three wins from three, Ambale admitted that returning to competitive rugby after such a lengthy absence was an emotional milestone.
“It feels good to be back having been out for ages, close to six months. Coming back and making the squad means a lot because I really wanted to be part of the Prinsloo 7s. To represent Kabras is really special for me, so I am very glad to be back.”
While pleased with his personal comeback, the youngster insists the team’s ambitions remain the priority as they prepare for the knockout rounds.
“We are looking for a win in the quarters, then get to the semis and all the way to the finals and hopefully we get to bag this.”
His return has handed Kabras an added attacking threat at a crucial stage of the tournament. The Kenya Cup champions looked sharp throughout the opening day, combining solid defensive organisation, quick ball movement and clinical finishing to sweep aside all three of their Pool opponents and advance to the Main Cup quarter-finals unbeaten.
With experienced campaigners providing leadership and young talents such as Ambale making an immediate impact, Kabras have once again underlined why they are among the leading contenders for the opening leg of the National Sevens Circuit.
The Main Cup quarter-finals promise another thrilling round of action, with Kabras Sugar taking on Daystar Falcons in the opening knockout fixture.
