Ebenezer Assifuah

Gor Mahia have secured the services of experienced Ghanaian striker Ebenezer Assifuah after the club confirmed that the forward has signed a new two-year contract, extending his stay with the record SportPesa League champions.

The new agreement comes after the expiry of the initial six-month deal Assifuah signed when he joined K’Ogalo during the January 2026 mid-season transfer window.

His impressive performances in the second half of the campaign convinced the club to retain him as they continue building a squad capable of competing for domestic honours and making a strong impression in continental football.

Assifuah arrived at Gor Mahia from Malaysian outfit Kedah Darul Aman, bringing with him a wealth of experience accumulated across Europe and Asia.

Before his spell in Malaysia, the Ghanaian featured for French clubs Le Havre and Pau FC, while also turning out for Swiss side FC Sion, adding significant pedigree to Gor Mahia’s attacking department.

The former Ghana youth international quickly settled into life in Kenyan football, proving to be one of Gor Mahia’s most influential signings of the season.

He played a pivotal role in the club’s successful SportPesa League title charge, scoring seven league goals as K’Ogalo clinched a record-extending 22nd league championship.

Among his standout moments was his decisive contribution in Gor’s dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Murang’a SEAL, when he made his official debut.

With K’Ogalo trailing 2-0 before halftime, Assifuah sparked the turnaround with a memorable goal as Gor Mahia mounted an inspired second-half fightback to collect all three points in one of the defining matches of their title-winning campaign.

His ability to score crucial goals, hold up play and bring teammates into attacking moves made him an instant favourite among the Gor Mahia faithful.

Beyond the goals, his leadership and experience were evident as the club navigated the pressure of a closely contested title race.

With the club preparing for another league campaign and a return to continental football, retaining one of their most reliable forwards is viewed as a major boost.

Assifuah’s contract extension also signals Gor’s intent to maintain stability within the squad while adding experience to complement the club’s emerging talent.

Having already demonstrated his value in Kenyan football, the Ghanaian striker will now be looking to build on an impressive debut spell and help K’Ogalo challenge for more silverware over the next two years.
