Giant Slayers BB Bread bit themselves when it counted,as an own goal showed them the way out of the 2026 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup after they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by SportPesa League side Kenya Police on Friday afternoon.
At the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, the lesser-known regional side had been the 2026 surprise package in the FKF Cup, having booked a spot in the Round of 16 after toppling two giants from the SportPesa League.
They began by eliminating AFC Leopards in the Round of 64 before flooring Gor Mahia in the Round of 32.

They were hoping to maintain their fairytale run, but they met a well-organized law enforcer side who made their intentions clear just seven minutes into the game.
Kenya Police drew first blood through an own goal. Harvest Malonga delivered a sharp cross into the box; Robert Oyugi tried to clear it backward, but the ball hit Albert Otieno and bounced loose.
Eric Zakayo then unleashed a shot that slipped through the defense and unfortunately deflected off David Odour for an own goal, handing Police the lead.
Over the next several minutes, both teams struggled to create meaningful chances, and the game remained evenly matched.
BB Bread carved out an opportunity of their own in the 38th minute but failed to make it count.
Samwel Olouch snatched the ball off a Police player and fired a shot from outside the 18-yard box. Law Enforcers’ keeper Daniel Ogembo punched it toward the left side, where the charging Johnson Wakachala tried to steer it into the corner, only for Ogembo to grab hold and save the day.
Police went into halftime nursing a narrow lead, despite the pressure mounting on them in the closing minutes of the half.
Things did not improve for the Nairobi East Branch table-toppers in the second half.

They came out determined to force the game into a penalty shootout –either by equalizing or snatching a winner, but wasted every chance they created.
Police defended resolutely and kept their discipline, even as BB Bread threw some scares their way.
In the end, Police took the win and advanced to the quarterfinals, where they’ve now joined Tusker, who beat Kariobangi Sharks earlier in the day.
Police, the SportPesa League defending champions who still have a slim chance to retain their league title, will be hoping to keep their Cup run alive and reclaim the trophy they last won in 2024, which would also open the route to CAF Confederation Cup competitions.
