Gor Mahia suffered a humiliating exit from the 2025/26 FKF Cup after being stunned 1-0 by regional underdogs BB Bread in a Round of 32 clash at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
K’Ogalo has become the second side and another Sportpesa League giant to be slayed by the BB Bread brigade, this after the same outfit had knocked AFC Leopards out in the Round of 64.
It was Dennis Muthini who came off the bench to score the solo goal from a well-executed attack in the 84th minute, as he managed to sail the Austine Okoba charges in the Round of 16.

Despite initially approaching the match as if it would be straightforward, coach Charles Akonnor made 10 changes from his usual starting lineup, retaining only Frank Odhiambo, who has been a regular starter recently.
Several key players were rested, while the lineup also included individuals who have barely featured this season, including Philemon Otieno.
Even though they entered the match as clear favorites and rotated the squad to give others a chance, they encountered a completely different challenge in BB Bread, a side that was extremely disciplined defensively.
Gor created few chances on target, with their strikers led by Patrick Esombe, struggling to get going inside the box, while BB Bread remained resolute.
BB Bread were the first to carve out a threatening opportunity through a counterattack three minutes before the half-hour mark.
Charles Munala chipped in a cross from the left wing that landed at Maqbul Ochola’s feet, but his right-footed shot drifted wide. Had he kept it low, they might have taken a rare first-half lead.

Towards the end of the first half, Gor Mahia finally carved out a chance of their own in the 44th minute.
A cross from the right wing floated into the box, but Fidel Origa was not alert enough to connect his sliding effort static, while Ben Stanley behind him also failed to make contact as both teams went into the break deadlocked.
The second half saw Gor Mahia make swift changes, with Paul Ochuoga and Shariff Musa brought on for Philemon and Elly Owando respectively, adding more creativity and speed to their attack.
It nearly paid off in the 52nd minute when Shariff Musa whipped in a cross to Ben Stanley, whose shot was deflected toward a Gor Mahia player. The loose ball fell back to Musa, but he scuffed his attempt as the BB Bread custodianEzekiel Owade stayed alert.
Gor Mahia piled on the pressure searching for at least one goal, but lady luck was not on their side even after introducing their super-sub striker Ebenezer Assifuah late on.

Then, with just six minutes left, it was BB Bread who were disciplined and compact all match, broke the deadlock.
A beautifully executed attack down the left saw Samuel Oluoch get on the end of a volleyed cross in that channel.
He drove forward and slid a low ball into the box, where Muthini connected, shifted it onto his left foot, and slotted it into the net handing his side what proved to be the winner against Akonnor’s charges.
As much as Gor Mahia camped in BB Bread’s half, they failed to make their chances count. Their FKF Cup journey comes to a halt at the Round of 32, leaving them with no shot at a double this season.
