1 Harambee Starlets eye strong start against India in FIFA Series 2026

Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Ademba has named the final squad for the upcoming FIFA Women’s series that Kenya is set to host from April 11-15 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

This mini-series tournament, organized by FIFA, will bring together four national teams from different continents, where Harambee Starlets will play alongside India, Malawi, and a formidable side from Australia.

On top of that, the tournament will serve as part of Harambee Starlets’ preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 25 to August 16, 2026.

Harambee Starlets name final squad for FIFA Women’s Series showdown in Nairobi.

Ademba has put together a rock-solid 24-player squad that includes seasoned campaigners while also featuring some rising stars.

Euphrasier Shilwatso and Mwanahalima Adams are among the well-known faces included, while Marion Serenge has also earned a spot after receiving her maiden senior national team call-up thanks to her impressive performances at club level.

The former Junior Starlets player, who featured in the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, has been in fine form for St. Noa FC in Uganda, netting six goals in five matches.

However, Lorine Ilavonga has been ruled out of the final squad after picking up an injury during a domestic league match ahead of the team’s last preparation phase.

Meanwhile, four players who had been named in the provisional squad and are based at Simba Queens; Jentrix Shikangwa, Elizabeth Wambui, Fasila Odhiambo, and Ruth Ingosi, were not available at the start of the FIFA international window on April 7, 2026, due to club commitments in a domestic league fixture.

Odhiambo and Ingosi checked into camp on April 10, 2026, and will be training with the squad ahead of the tournament.

Harambee Starlets will kick off this tournament with a semifinal clash where they will take on India, who are ranked 67th globally, at 5pm EAT.

This follows Australia – the best side in the tournament, ranked 15th taking on Malawi, placed 154th worldwide, at 2pm on Saturday, April 11.

If Harambee Starlets beat India, they will advance to the final, where they will face either Australia or Malawi on Wednesday, April 15. If they lose, they will take on the loser of the second semifinal in the third-place playoff on the same day.

  • Defenders: Ruth Ingosi, Norah Ann, Elizabeth Ochaka, Euphrasier Shilwatso, Vivian Nasaka, Janet Mumo, Leah Andiema, Enez Mango.
  • Midfielders: Mwanahalima Adam, Fasila Adhiambo, Martha Amunyolete, Mercy Airo, Airin Madalina, Vidah Sharon, Terry Engesha, Lorna Nyarinda.
  • Forwards: Elizabeth Mideva, Shaline Nambengele, Eglay Mukhwana, Shirleen Opisa, Marion Serenge, Valerie Nekesa.
