- Nairobi United and KCB FC have dominated the SportPesa League Team of the Week for Round 27, played from Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6.
- NaiBois have three players, as do the Bankers, while Kakamega Homeboyz, AFC Leopards, Mara Sugar and Kariobangi Sharks are also represented.
- After Round 27, Gor Mahia leads the table with 57 points, two ahead of second-placed AFC Leopards, while APS Bomet, Bidco United, and Sofapaka remain in the relegation zone.
Nairobi United and KCB FC have dominated the SportPesa League Team of the Week for Round 27, played over the weekend across various venues in the country.
The league title race continues to heat up. Over the weekend on Saturday, Gor Mahia who have a game in hand, dropped two crucial points in a goalless draw against Kariobangi Sharks.
That opened the door for rivals and second-placed AFC Leopards, who capitalized on Sunday. They managed to edge out Murang’a SEAL 2-0 at Nyayo Stadium, making it a two-point gap. Gor have 57 while Ingwe trail them with 55, setting up a fierce battle for the title.

Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz secured back-to-back victories, beating Mathare United 3-0 to stretch a ten-point buffer over AFC Leopards. They sit in third place on the log with 45 points.
The top-four scramble is still on, but the title dream for teams like Shabana, Nairobi United, KCB FC, and defending champions Kenya Police might be out of reach.
Nairobi United, the league debutants, are in seventh place with a game in hand.

They managed to beat struggling Shabana 3-0 on Sunday at Kasarani Stadium. Meanwhile, KCB’s 1-0 win over Bidco United lifts them to sixth place with 40 points. Shabana and Kenya Police sit fifth and fourth respectively with 43 points.
SportPesa League data analyst Tisini has revealed the Team of the Week, which features three players from KCB, three from Nairobi United, while Kakamega Homeboyz, AFC Leopards, and Kariobangi Sharks also have representatives.

Goalkeeper – Bernard Jairo – Nairobi United
Jairo was a strong presence on Sunday at Kasarani Stadium, helping his side grab three crucial points in their 3-0 win over Shabana FC.
He also kept a clean sheet and made crucial saves. That day, he assisted Mustapha Kizza’s wonder goal of the weekend – – a strike from beyond the halfway line that sailed in for the late third goal.
Defender – Robison Musungu – Mara Sugar
Musungu held things tight at the back, helping his side narrowly beat Posta Rangers 1-0 on Monday at Awendo Green Stadium.
The win ensured they did not just keep a clean sheet but also got back to winning ways, beating the Mailmen for the first time since their promotion back to the SportPesa League.

Defender – Lennox Ogutu – Nairobi United
Solid at the back as they picked up the win against Shabana, helping preserve the clean sheet. He kept the Shabana strikers in check that day for the three points at home.
Defender – John Omondi – Kakamega Homeboyz
Rock-solid at the back, he was involved in the opener for Kakamega Homeboyz when they beat Mathare United 3-0 at Bukhungu Stadium.
The buildup goal was scored by Oliver Mchaka in the first half, while he helped at the back to keep the clean sheet.
Defensive midfielder – Kevin Luke Otiala – Kariobangi Sharks
He helped his side grab a very valuable point in their SportPesa League survival fight when they held Gor Mahia to a goalless draw at Kasarani Stadium.
His brilliant efforts saw him named Man of the Match, with some great clearances and blocks as well.

Defensive midfielder – Rowland Makati – KCB FC
Makati was solid throughout their 1-0 win over Bidco United at Wang’uru Stadium, helping his side keep a clean sheet.
Attacking midfielder – Boniface Omondi – KCB FC
He was the goal provider for the Bankers in their win over Bidco United, while also making several attempts that did not go his way as they settled for that narrow win.

Attacking midfielder – Duncan Omalla – Nairobi United’
A very talented player this season, he has been delivering in every game, helping the NaiBois win matches.
On Sunday, he was on target, helping them win 3-0 over Shabana FC. His brilliance, especially on his goal, saw him named Man of the Match for that game.

Attacking midfielder – James Kinyanjui – AFC Leopards
Kinyanjui has been an absolute playmaker for Ingwe this season. On Sunday, he assisted one goal as they beat Murang’a SEAL 2-0 at Nyayo to revive the SportPesa League title talks.
He was named Man of the Match for his brilliant runs and slick gameplay throughout the match.
Forward – Oliver Machaka – Kakamega Homeboyz
He was named Man of the Match as they beat Mathare United 3-0 on Saturday, while also making good runs and attempts that could have earned him more.

He scored the solo goal for Robert Matano’s charges, giving them three points in Kirinyaga County against Bidco United on Sunday.
His brilliant gameplay saw him named Man of the Match that day.
SportPesa League Coach of the Week – Godfrey Odour – Nairobi United
The NaiBois tactician had a brilliant tactical display, making good changes that saw them push and complete a double over Shabana this season. They continue to fight hard in their first-ever appearance in the SportPesa League.
