Gor Mahia took a giant step towards winning the SportPesa League title with a 2-1 victory over APS Bomet at the Kericho Green Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The record champions arrived in Kericho with revenge on their minds after a shocking 4-1 loss to the same opponents earlier in the season at Nyayo Stadium in the first leg and they delivered to silence the home crowd.
The win ensures that K’Ogalo capitalizes on the slip-up by their arch-rivals AFC Leopards in their goalless draw against Bandari moving six points clear at the summit of the table.

Gor Mahia edge APS Bomet to open a six-point lead at the summit
Ebenezer Kofi Assifuah who has quickly become a fan favorite, opened the scoring with an early goal. The Ghanaian forward broke the deadlock in the seventh minute to reinforce his reputation as one of the most impactful signings of the January window.
Gor Mahia eventually doubled their lead in the second half thanks to a decisive strike from another new recruit, Jackson Dwang.
However, the home side managed to secure a consolation through Hansel Ochieng, the former AFC Leopards man who haunted Gor Mahia with a hat-trick in the reverse fixture, proved once again why he is a constant threat to the champions.
Ochieng managed to reduce the deficit for APS Bomet on his return from injury momentarily raising hopes of another upset in Kericho but Kogalo held on to their lead for a 2-1 scoreline at Full-time.
The result leaves APS Bomet rooted in the bottom half of the table with much work to do to secure their top-flight status, while Gor Mahia heads back to Nairobi with a comfortable cushion at the top and a clear path to the 2026 title.
