- Four players have been shortlisted for the SportPesa League Player of the Month award for January.
- The list includes two Gor Mahia stars – Enock Morrison and Paul Ochouga.
- AFC Leopards defender Kayci Odhiambo and Mara Sugar’s Jimmy Owili also make the cut.
Four SportPesa League stand-out performers have been nominated for the SportPesa League Player of the Month for January 2026, after delivering eye-catching displays for their respective clubs throughout the month.
The shortlist features a surprising pair from record champions Gor Mahia: sensational Ghanaian midfielder Enock Morrisson and their dependable wingback Paul Ochouga.
Meanwhile, their rivals AFC Leopards have also secured a spot, with defender Kayci Odhiambo earning a nomination.

Completing the list, which is dominated by defenders, is Mara Sugar left-back Jimmy Owili.
As usual since the award’s introduction in October 2025, the winner will receive KSh 50,000 and a customized trophy courtesy of SportPesa.

Here’s how the four nominees performed during a competitive January:
January 2026 SportPesa League Player of the Month nominees
Jimmy Owili – Mara Sugar
Despite his side failing to secure a single win in January, Owili was a consistent presence, featuring in all five of their matches.
In a recent fixture, he was named Man of the Match against Kakamega Homeboyz after helping his team come from behind twice to earn a 3-3 draw at Bukhungu Stadium.
He provided the assist for Timothy Ndayala’s equalizer and, in the dying minutes, delivered a cross that caused chaos in the box resulting in an own goal by Glen Masava to seal the comeback.

Paul Ochouga – Gor Mahia
Ochouga appeared in all six of K’Ogalo’s matches in January, contributing to five wins and one draw as they opened a four-point lead at the top of the table.
He earned the Man of the Match honour twice: first in their 3-2 comeback victory over Murang’a SEAL, where he provided an assist, and again in a 2-1 win against Bidco United, where he also found the net.
Enock Morrisson – Gor Mahia
Like his teammate Ochouga, the Ghanaian international was instrumental in Gor Mahia’s midfield throughout the month.
He featured in all six games, registering an assist in their recent 3-0 victory over Sofapaka.
Morrisson also claimed two Man of the Match awards against Sofapaka and in their draw with Shabana FC.

Kayci Odhiambo – AFC Leopards
If there’s a key figure in Fred Ambani’s side, it’s Kayci in defense.
He made five appearances for Ingwe, who secured four consecutive wins with only one loss, keeping them in the title race this SportPesa League season.
He was named Man of the Match in their 1-0 triumph over Sofapaka, scoring the solitary goal to end a long wait for a victory against that opponent.
Since its introduction in October 2025, the SportPesa Player of the Month award has seen different winners each time: Gor Mahia’s Musa Sharif was the inaugural winner, Ulinzi Stars’ Paul Odhiambo took November, and Murang’a SEAL’s Joseph Irungu claimed the December award.
