AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani has been crowned the SportPesa League Coach of the Month for December 2025, capping off an impressive run that saw Ingwe end the year on a high and firmly in the 25/26 title conversation.
Ambani beat off stiff competition from veteran KCB tactician Robert Matano and Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere to scoop the prestigious monthly accolade.

Ingwe recorded three wins and one draw, scoring four goals and conceding just once. Perhaps most impressively, the Leopards kept three clean sheets during that run, a clear indicator of the defensive solidity instilled by the former club captain.
December began in the best possible fashion for Ambani and his side, with a narrow but memorable 1-0 victory over arch-rivals Gor Mahia.
Julius Masaba emerged as the hero on the day, his decisive strike handing Ingwe bragging rights in the Mashemeji Derby and setting the tone for the rest of the month. That result injected belief into the squad and the supporters who sensed that something special was building.
Ingwe followed up the derby win with a goalless draw against defending champions Kenya Police, a match that tested their resilience with goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi coming up big to ensure Ingwe claim an important point.

While goals were hard to come by, Ambani’s side showed maturity and patience, earning a valuable point against one of the league’s toughest opponents.
The Leopards then bounced back to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ulinzi Stars, a performance that underlined their growing confidence and ability to grind out results.
December was wrapped up with a slender 1-0 win against Bidco United, a result that propelled AFC Leopards to the top of the SportPesa League standings as they headed into 2026 and allowed them to spend Christmas perched at the summit.
For Ambani, the Coach of the Month award is not just personal recognition but also a reflection of collective effort within the club.
Upon receiving the award, which comes with a cash prize of KES 75,000 and a customized trophy from league sponsors SportPesa, the tactician expressed his appreciation and ambition.

“I am grateful for the award. It’s a good motivation and helps us push for more. I want to assure our fans that more of such will be coming our way,” said Ambani.
As AFC Leopards look ahead to the remainder of the season, the December form has set a strong foundation.
With momentum on their side and belief growing within the camp, Ingwe will be keen to translate monthly accolades into sustained success and, ultimately, silverware at the end of the campaign having won their last title in 1998.
